Event Details

Who is experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County? How many people experience homelessness in the Phoenix area? Is homelessness on the rise? Join Dr. Melissa Kovacs and Dr. Joanna Lucio for a presentation and discussion on who is in need of housing in the greater Phoenix community. Through the use of data and statistics, learn more about homelessness and affordable housing in your community. With Arizona now the third-worst in the nation for affordable housing, talk through scenarios of the almost-homeless and discuss the role of affordable housing in offering solutions.

This program is in conjunction with the exhibit “I Have A Name,” a collection of black and white photographs by Jon Linton of people who live in and around our communities, who have no home to call their own. Attendees are invited to view the exhibit before the presentation.

Melissa Kovacs, Ph.D. is the Founder of FirstEval, LLC and the Associate Director for Research at the Morrison Institute for Public Policy at Arizona State University. Joanna Lucio, Ph.D. is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and an Associate Professor at Arizona State University.
