The Arizona Historical Society (AHS) helps communities in every corner of the state preserve and share their culture, folkways, and history through our Certified Historical Institution Program. AHS grants, workshops, and technical expertise assist non-profit local organizations and tribal museums to improve their operations and helps us fulfill our mission to “connect people through the power of Arizona’s history”.

Museums and historical organizations certified by the Arizona Historical Society (AHS) share certain common characteristics. In developing guidelines, AHS follows standards or “best practices” established by the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) and the American Alliance of Museums (AAM).

AHS is proud to serve as a resource to our Certified Museums, providing expertise relating to collections management, educational and public program development, and exhibit curation.
