Event Details

Have you heard of the term “Hassayamper”?

According to legend, a “Hassayamper” is someone who tells tall tales, blending fact and fiction into a wonderful story. Please join us in discussion with the esteemed Dr. Eduardo Pagán when we look at his article “Frederick Russell Burnham as “Hassayamper”: Narrative and Imagination in Scouting on Two Continents.” Looking at Frederick Russell Burnham’s stories and using his expert historical analysis, Pagán walks us through a small part of the history of Territorial Arizona and shows us how historians are also detectives.

On May 19th, 7:00-8:00 p.m., join the conversation on Zoom.

This program is the second in our eight-part “Ask the Author” series, funded in part by an Arizona Humanities grant.
